Hi,

I’m Helena, and welcome to Conscious Evolution - a place where I bring yoga and energy practices together.

I am a trauma informed yoga teacher from Belfast, Ireland. I teach Katonah Yoga®, Restorative and Somatics. I give energy healings and lead workshops and courses combining Yoga and Andean Mysticism. I organise and have brought groups to Peru to learn from my teachers.

I aspire to give people experiences that elevate them out of the norm with the intention of gaining new perspective on themselves - physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically.

My vision is for my clients and students to evolve consciously through body and energy work, reconnecting them with the wisdom of nature.

It all started when …

I was a glass design student at Art college in Dublin in 1997, when my love affair with yoga began. I was in my very stressful final year. Looking back on it, the more stressed I got, the more calamity I attracted to myself. On the drive into college one morning, a guy (who seemed equally stressed) drove into the back of my car, which left me with whiplash. I struggled on for some time, until a friend told me about a yoga class at the college and I went to see if it would help, and so my journey began.

Several years later, back in Belfast, my friend’s mum (Valerie McCrory), became my teacher and encouraged me to do teacher training. After seven years of dedicated practice, I signed up for my first TT with Marie Quail. Marie was one of the first teachers to bring yoga to Ireland and is still an incredible teacher into her 80s, the foundations of her instructions are the bedrock of my practice. I began teaching in 2003, have taught and been a student continuously. Since 2015 I’ve been practicing Katonah and completed my certification, becoming the first accredited Katonah Yoga® teacher in Belfast.

I would consider myself a seeker, in that I love to find ways of being that resonate to my core. In 2012, I took a six month sabbatical in South and Central America. A sequence of either serendipitous or synchronistic events lead me to my teachers of the Andean tradition in Peru; the Chocolate Shaman in Guatemala and numerous Shamans; healers and teachers along the way. The Andean tradition has deepened my connection with nature, which is an anchor and continual source of healing.

This past 6 or 7 years I have been delving into trauma work, through somatics, and more recently with Gabor Mate on his Compassionate Inquiry course. Whether it is big or small T trauma, we have all experienced it in our lifetimes, shaping our personality and how we show up in the world. CI has been a somatic excavation into my own psyche and added another salubrious layer to my evolution of consciousness.
